With a job starting in about two weeks, I've started to invest in some work attire. Prior jobs have called for a nice shirt and skirt or even nice-looking jeans, but my upcoming internship calls for more formal attire. Honestly, I'm excited! I've taken a few trips to J. Crew, Ann Taylor, and Zara to try to build a work wardrobe. With D.C. in mind, I've been trying to channel some of the feminine but appropriate ways of the First Ladies in my search!
[ I truly admire Michelle Obama's sense of style. She always looks appropriate, but finds ways to accentuate her best features. A skirt is another great way to mix and match.
[ A dress is a perfect way to look professional and still maintain some femininity. A dress like Jackie O's would be perfect with a Cardigan over it. ]
[ Classy but loud jewelry is a worthwhile investment. Laura Bush's earrings turn an otherwise drab combination into something subtly glamorous. ]
[ A pop of color is something that is quite trendy right now outside of the world world - and it is also something you can channel in the workplace (skip out on the neon, though). Who knew Hillary was so fashion forward? ]
[ Bows are a great way of dressing feminine without showing any skin. I got a few blouses like the one Nancy Reagan is wearing above. ]
